What is the purpose of the AEP Sponsorship?
AEP sponsors students, ages 12 to 22, members of the Amos Youth Centre, who cannot afford school tuition. All of these children have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Some are also victims of HIV/AIDS. Many of them now live with older siblings or grandparents, by themselves or are the head of the family themselves. All students sponsored by AEP truly suffer from hardship. Without our financial support they would have no other option but to drop out of school. All sponsored students are active members of the Amos Youth Centre where they participate in various activities and help with younger children.

Donations of any amount are of course welcome, as every dollar counts. All donations to AEP are tax-deductible.

Here are recommended support levels:

• $180 will cover one student's school fees for the 2009 scholastic year, provision of a school uniform and Amos Youth Centre programs including academic support, HIV/AIDS programs and the Breakfast Club.
• $120 will cover one student's school fees for the 2009 scholastic year.
• Donations of any amount can also go to the AEP college fund. Tertiary education costs approximately $1,000-$2,000 per year and AEP will sponsor as many of our very promising university-accepted students (who are eager to continue their education at the university level and beyond) as possible.

Last year 65 School students (Grades 8 through 12) and 7 College students attended school through AEP sponsorship. This year AEP hopes to reach the goal of 100 School and 10 College sponsorships. If you are planning to make an ongoing commitment to the sponsored student, please select a younger student (Grade 8 or 9). If you do not plan to renew after one year, please select an older student (Grade 12) who just needs one more year to finish High School.
